Mrs. McDonald grew up in Petaluma and Meadow Vista, California. As a child, she loved the majestic pines of the Sierras and the beautiful red soil of Grassvalley, where her grandfather lived. She also loved the crystals her grandfather collected from his days as a miner. The nearest thing for her to the enchantment of her grandfather’s forest/home was the description created by Professor Tolkien of Middle Earth. His writings inspired a life-long love of learning, languages and great literature.
Mrs. McDonald is married to her ideal Scotsman in Michael Scott McDonald and has five bonny children and 4 grandchildren with one on the way. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Elementary Education and a Minor in English and then went on to graduate studies at Sacramento State University, California, pursuing a certificate in “Literature and Language”. She has worked as a 4th Grade Classroom Teacher, as an English as a Second Language Teacher (she speaks Spanish), and as a Special Day Para-Educator.
She believes all children need to EXPERIENCE the wonders of life and then APPRECIATE them through the arts and education.
